FDM 3D Printing Services

Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is a 3D printing technology that involves creating three-dimensional objects by sequentially depositing melted material that follows the contours of a digital model. Plastic filament spools are commonly used as the material for 3D printing with the FDM method.

To perform 3D printing, a digital 3D model in the STL or OBJ format is necessary and is placed in a specialized program in the most appropriate way and divided into layers. The process of preparing the model for printing is called “slicing,” which generates G-code, a programming language for numerically controlled devices, in this case the 3D printer.

The FDM technology is widely known for its wide range of materials, relatively high accuracy, ability to print large parts, and low cost. FDM parts are equally suitable for end use, small-scale production, and prototyping.

Let's try it now by following few steps

1. Upload CAD files

To get started, simply upload your 3D/CAD file

We can accept the following files:

  • SolidWorks (.sldprt)
  • ProE (.prt)
  • IGES (.igs)
  • STEP (.stp)
  • ACIS (.sat)
  • Parasolid (.x_t or .x_b)
  • .stl files
2. Choose a process

First, select the required manufacturing process. Your project will be analyzed by engineers.

Within a few hours, we will send you a Manufacturability Analysis Report (DFM) for the part and the price in real time.

3. Order your parts online

Once you have reviewed your offer and placed an order, paying for it on the secure payment platform and we will begin the production process.

4. Get your parts

During the agreed period of time, you will receive the ordered parts. You can track your package at any time in your personal account, and also check the status of other orders.

Advantages of FDM

Surface finish options after 3D-printing

In most cases, parts printed using the FDM technology do not require any finishing, except for areas where support was used. Since materials (filaments) are originally available in a wide range of colors, the parts are printed in the desired color from the outset.

The method of abrasive processing of solid surfaces of printed parts with the aim of obtaining a smooth surface. It is usually used to achieve a smooth surface of a part or prepare it for applying a paint coating.

Applying a paint coating to the solid surfaces of printed parts after their cleaning and preparation for painting in the desired color. It is used to achieve the desired color of the part’s surface, provide protection against environmental influences, etc.

The process of treating printed products with chemical reagents to achieve gloss, smooth out layers, or alter the mechanical properties of the material from which the part is printed.

FDM 3D Printing Services - Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages

Accessibility: the most affordable type of 3D printing out of all the existing ones currently

Fast production: the ability to print complex-shaped and large-sized parts with minimal waste in a short period of time

Strength and Lightweight: 3D printing using FDM technology allows for the production of parts that are much lighter compared to traditional methods of manufacturing plastic products while still maintaining durability

Ecological friendliness: materials used for manufacturing products are either recyclable or made from organic-based materials

Disadvantages

Scalability:

  • limitation on the maximum size of printed products due to the limited size of 3D printer print chambers
  • difficulty printing small parts (less than 10x10x10 mm) due to overheating

The need for supports: requires support structures when printing overhanging parts of the object (usually less than 45-55 degrees relative to the horizontal surface), which can leave unwanted marks after removal

Roughness: due to the printing technology itself (layer by layer), the surface of the part has micro-roughness
